5 Minute Summer Makeup

Its the Sunday of the August long weekend, the sun is shining, though there’s more of a shimmering, beating down heatwave happening yet again. They weren’t kidding when they warned us of the hottest summer yet.

So whats on your agenda in a city full of delightful weekend strolling opportunities, pitchers and patios? Getting outside! To make your prep time as pain free as possible I’ve put together my six go-to items for a 5 minute-run-out-the-door-looking-fabulous-in-45degree-heat look. I kid you not, I actually threw these on at 8am this morning, in five minutes, and ran out the door. Substitute brands as you like, but these are MY carefully curated favorites!

Diorskin Nude Loose Powder + Matching Brush – This made me a first time powder fan. Apply on recently moisturized skin for a better finish and for the best coverage, gently work the powder into the skin with a flat topped powder brush, in a pressing, rocking motion. I can’t think of a better way to describe it. If you don’t have much to cover up, just dust it on like any other powder to reduce shine, though it defeats the true potential of this beautiful product.

Clarins Eyebrow Pencil – I’ll leave the house without mascara, but not without my brows if I’m going to put anything on. Love your brows and they’ll love you back. Enough said.

Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Matte Bronzer – I don’t do shimmer. That said, they do offer a lovely option for those who do. Its light, it’s sheer, and it blends beautifully. Sweep across your cheeks like a blush then on the next dip, knock off excess powder and sweep from your forehead to your chin in a ‘3’ shape on each side of your face. Any leftover product on the brush after that, sweep across your forehead, down your nose, and a dash on your chin, just like the sun would naturally hit. Use a fluffy brush. For more visual instructions, youtube it or visit a beauty counter – its slow season and we’d love to see you :)

Sephora Eyelash Curler – I know it’s not the darling of the eyelash curler world, but it works, and holds a curl (if you need it) for most of the day especially if you run it under hot water before using. Hairdryers make it too hot. Trust me. Ouch.

Rosebud Strawberry Lip Balm – Because you want soft, moisturized, not-too-shiny lips that you can apply without a mirror while waiting for the streetcar.

Happy strolling!
